The trillion planet survey: an optical search for directed intelligence in M31

Pointing a telescope at Andromeda and recording a new picture every couple of nanoseconds. They created a program that would create a template. Then the template would be subtracted from the current search. Any remaining light would be excess signal, and indicative of a laser being pointed at earth.
